Tert-butyl bromoacetate is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate to synthesise amino acids and peptide compounds. It is also an important intermediate of risovastatin. Risovastatin is mainly suitable for hyperlipidaemia and hypercholesterolaemia. It is used for patients with no clinical manifestations of heart disease but a potential risk of cardiovascular disease to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke and coronary vascular rebuilding.
